The
family is the basic foundation of a person’s life. Solutions Outpatient
Services’ Family Program provides services to the client and family which are
designed to repair, heal, and revitalize the family. Because chemical dependency
and other addictions are family illnesses, the disease affects the family and
concerned people. There is no doubt that the one who is emotionally involved
with a chemically dependent or codependent person will become affected in one
way or another, to one degree or another.
As
the disease of chemical dependency runs its course over the months and years,
the personality and behavior of the chemically dependent person changes. Those
who are emotionally involved with the chemically dependent person change in
their personality and behaviors also in an effort to continue the relationship.
The
GOAL of our family program is to educate the family members about the disease,
and help them discover to what extent they have been affected. We endeavor to
give them some tools for living, which will allow them the emotional freedom to
achieve their goals in life.
Family participants
attend up to two hours of lectures and four hours of multi-family group sessions
weekly to help them identify their roles in their families and process their
feelings. Solutions Outpatient Services’ Family Program includes an Intensive
Family Weekend Workshop. This weekend includes approximately 15 hours—two hours of lecture
and the remaining hours for list work, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
