Solutions Outpatient Services'
Youth and Young Adult Program has received local and national recognition for
its successful structured and comprehensive approach to treatment. Solutions
neither subscribes nor promotes quick and easy remedies for addictions. All
three Phases mentioned below are important parts of this process.
Especially when working with
youth and young adults, it is our goal to challenge them to take responsibility for their
own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Teaching them to build
positive friendships and to live alcohol and drug free are our goals.
The Youth and Young Adult Program
is smoke-free in compliance with Texas state law and licensure. Adolescents are
prohibited from bringing nicotine products on the premises and partaking of
nicotine products during the structured program hours. Adolescents will be educated on
nicotine addiction and offered assistance if one decides to quit.
A frequent mistake in youth and
young adult treatment is to think of their problem simply in terms of
keeping them away from drugs/alcohol and keeping drug/alcohol using
friends away from them. At Solutions Outpatient Services we believe the addict
must find a substitute for the addiction, addictive behavior, and addictive
environment.
A new Higher Power is necessary
to replace the previous higher power (drugs and alcohol). With the Twelve Steps
of Alcoholics Anonymous, a willingness to change, and openness to a new Higher
Power, addicts have an opportunity for recovery.
