Dr. John Talmadge has been active in the teaching and practice of psychiatry for more than 30 years. A graduate of Dartmouth College and the Duke University School of Medicine, he has practiced in Texas since 1976, entering the field of addictions in the 1980s.
Dr. Talmadge was among the first physicians certified by both The American Society of Addiction Medicine and The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has served on the faculties of five medical schools in Texas, including The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he helped start the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Program and served as training director for several years.
He is currently a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and continues to play an active role in medical education, writing, and research. His latest project is a book on alcoholism and other addictions.
